ABOUT

I've always lived a little on the edges.

Not in a dramatic, rebellious way—more in that quiet, slightly out-of-step way that makes you feel like you’re listening to a different rhythm than everyone else.

For a long time, I thought that meant something was wrong with me.

Now I know it simply means I’ve always been drawn to the B-side.

You know… the track most people skip. The one that doesn’t try to be loud or polished. The one that quietly holds the heart of the album.

I’m Birgit, and Living on the B-Side is where music, reflection and everyday life meet.

Music has been my companion through every season—not as something to fix me or lift my mood on command, but as a mirror. A way of hearing myself when life became noisy. A way of reconnecting with who I am beneath the expectations, the busyness and the constant pressure to keep going.

That lifelong relationship with music eventually led me somewhere I never expected.

What began as a personal source of comfort grew into six seasons of conversations through my podcast, Living on the B-Side, where I had the privilege of exploring people’s stories, creativity and wellbeing. Alongside that, I completed my life coach training and found myself asking one question again and again:

What if music could become more than something we simply listen to?

The more I explored that question—through my own experiences, hundreds of podcast conversations, coach training, research and reflection—the more I realised that music can become a powerful way of noticing what’s happening beneath the surface. Not because it has all the answers, but because it helps us ask better questions.

That’s what eventually became the foundation for my Music Momentum approach.

These days, I write, create resources and offer Music Momentum Sessions for people who are curious about their relationship with music and what it might be quietly revealing about where they are in life.

Around here you’ll find:

  • Reflections on music, life and being human.
  • Practical ways to explore your relationship with music.
  • Thoughtful resources created at a pace that honours real life.
  • Encouragement to pause, listen and notice what you need.

This isn’t a place for perfection or performance.

It’s a place where music becomes a conversation instead of background noise.

A place where slowing down isn’t falling behind.

A place where you don’t need to become someone else before you can begin feeling more like yourself.

I’m not here to tell you who you should be.

I’m simply sharing what I’ve discovered through my own journey, in the hope that it helps you hear something within yourself too.

If one story, one song or one reflection helps you reconnect with yourself, then this little corner of the internet has done exactly what I hoped it would.

If you’d like to stay a little longer, here are a few places to begin:

Wherever you are today…

Listen. Pause. Reflect.
