I have eyes, recently enhanced by dapper spectacles I have continued to gleefully dive into BTS content and have been mesmerised and amused. Their gentle and kind manner toward strangers, ARMY and each other has me agreeing whole heartedly, they are lovely. So when you add cute aeygos to sexy adds for companies that rhyme with line and multiply it by endless lovely moments of fun and sincere camaraderie, I declare with certainty that all those words can be used to accurately describe BTS. Furthermore the endearing manner in which they are used particularly by Park Jimin (aka Jimminshiii) makes them descriptors well loved by all of us ARMY.

However today, I am here to hold an intervention on cute, sexy and lovely.

It’s not a full ambush, so before you revoke my membership – and my lovely gift with the cute photo cards and the sexy mini light stick, I dance around with when I daydream of seeing them in concert – let me explain why we need to add more profound terms that are truly reflective of BTS’s visionary talent and artistry.

I found BTS during a particularly difficult 14 years, both my parents got severe cases of cancer. My dad passed away under very traumatic conditions and my health deteriorated. I had only recently graduated from nursing and got accepted into a coveted ICU program but because of the circumstances I couldn’t juggle everything. Maintaining the high standard I was used to achieving was impossible. I had to slowly give up on many of the parts of life I took for granted. The experiences and relationships that gave my life meaning and inspired connection and success slowly evaporated. I was broken, floating in the ocean emitting a frequency that was not heard and struggling to generate energy to get through the situation.

I am now thankfully mentally and emotionally thriving. My health is getting better and my mum is still with us. We have learnt to accept life and live in the moment and be thankful for those around us.

I am so grateful to BTS for providing solace in those overwhelming dark times.

With each situation, action and milestone they overcame, they modelled strength through adversity. They blessed me with endless tears of laughter; RUN BTS provided a fun escape, a mental break from reality.

BTS also fostered my passion for music, and it was this journey into their artistic process that inspired me to go beyond the surface and discover a whole range of descriptors for BTS members to embrace their sincerity, complex personalities, talent and creativity. It led me to realise that if we advocate, promote and appreciate BTS at a higher frequency, their true value and legacy will be highlighted and hopefully celebrated by an industry which embraces their insightful ability to innovate and empower others.

The seven members have written close to 630 songs. Their lyrics are unique and arranged beautifully. They can collectively be on the same wavelength and take you through a captivating journey and as solo artists master the same feat with seven distinctive styles. Their messages come through easily, many of us international ARMY can easily connect with their music in Korean, but the beauty of their artistry is that even when translated, their songs retain their meaning and are just as impressive, inspiring and moving.

The concepts covered by BTS show their love for knowledge and mastery of complex issues, they are constantly providing the opportunity for us to reflect, develop and expand our views and understanding of the world we live in.

Their mesmerising productions show attention to detail, the choreography is art, and each project is treated as a precious moment to savour and treasure. What has famously been coined the ‘Non-Hiatus’, demonstrates not only their dedication and endearment for us but also their hardworking nature, resilience, originality and brilliance. Everything they created was a chef’s kiss and to think about the planning, hard work and time that was behind it all is mind-blowing.

So, my call to ARMY is for us to promote, discuss and interact with BTS, social media and each other using insightful and meaningful language.

Instead of asking the members to perform for us by carrying out cute poses or using our interaction with them to comment on their body or weight or personal topics that perhaps invade their privacy, we can put effort into asking them about their inspiration, thought process, dreams and plans for their music and future. Our posts and interaction on social media can discuss, reflect and promote the work of the members, their talent and our dedication to protecting and supporting the values which they aspire for us.

Because it comes naturally to BTS, there will always be stunning, sexy, sophisticated ads and content. There will always be cute mannerisms and special moments shared with our members. I just hope part of that journey includes ARMY communicating positively and wisely to let the world know how special BTS is and why we value, respect and love them.

Just like many ARMY all over the world, even though we have never met, you transcended through time and space and connected, supported and provided comfort, you hold a special place in my heart.
