For a number of years, I have been an avid K-Drama follower. Approximately six months ago I discovered K-Pop. I was intrigued so delved further into this phenomenon.
There are many talented K-Pop groups, but the one which stood out for me was BTS. Their music was uplifting and inspiring to listen to, always making me smile. I became an instant BTS fan. I took out a membership, joined various platforms and began conversing with other like-minded people.
The group consists of seven guys. Their stage names are RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimini, V and Jungkook. They deliver an extraordinarily polished performance, like an explosion of dynamite to watch. Each BTS member brings their own uniqueness and personality to the group which blends together, shaping this successful K-Pop phenomena.
As I delved into the groups’ background, I was intrigued by their outlook on life. They openly spoke about the struggles and life challenges they went through to achieve their success while remaining grounded and humble. They openly acknowledge and respect the support of their fans (ARMY) from all over the world, which is truly heartfelt to see.
I recently watched BTS’s attendance at the United Nation in 2018 on the internet. RM delivered a speech that was so thought provoking and empowering, my world changed.
I realised I had lost my voice and ability to be the person I am with all my faults and mistakes and had allowed others to put me in moulds of their choice not mine.
BTS changed my view on life. I am slowly growing in confidence to speak my voice, and accept myself for who I am. With this new confidence and empowerment, my relationship with people and outlook on my life journey will change.
I will no doubt make mistakes along my journey of discovery, and hope to be a little wiser as I embrace who I am.
When things get difficult, I will take a breath, stay calm and lean on BTS for strength.
